First Team Impress Despite Opening Friendly Defeat

Yatton's first pre-season game of the 2007/08 season ended in defeat at Clevedon Utd, but not before showing the ability to create and take chances by taking the lead against a team they would have expected to compete with from the off.

A new formation and a new management team could have seen more teething problems than were apparent but with the opposition arriving with 11 substitutes to Yatton's three things were always going to get tougher as the game progressed on a warm summer evening.

After a bit of early pressure it was Yatton who were creating the better chances and Limon opened the scoring with a header at the far post after some good work by Hall and Scott Bird. Clevedon's woodwork was then rattled on a couple of occasions before they sneaked an equaliser with a rare chance just before half time.

The second half saw a new formation for Yatton and whole new team for Clevedon, who went for strength over skill in their new line-up. The approach soon paid off after a strong challenge on keeper Stone was unpunished by the officials allowing an easy tap in for Clevedon to take the lead. Yatton scorer Limon then needed to leave the field to prevent a Paula Radcliffe moment and with the new formation still needing more work by 'Tinkerman' Richards Yatton couldn't quite find the equaliser they possibly deserved.
