Yatton Unlucky in Defeat

Yatton lost their second pre-season friendly in a similar fashion to the first, showing some neat approach play, but failing to find either a final ball or the back of the net.

Athletic started brightly and dominated the opening exchanges, with Scott Bird and Fred Fisher both fashioning decent chances. The latter had the best chance of the half by heading against the post from a second deep corner from Russell Cox.

Matt Keedwell and Christian Reed had good chances to give Yatton the lead, exposing slack defending with only the keeper able to preserve parity.

The second half started in the same vein, with Mike Lee and Ryan Richards going close from range.

As the half went on Nailsea found their passes and took the lead against the run of play with a fine volley from the left side of the penalty area. The goal sparked Nailsea into life, and they started to dictate play a little more, without looking particularly dangerous.

Alex Bird and Fisher both had good chances to level for Athletic before an improvised free kick saw a splendid 25 yard effort from Lee fizz past the Nailsea ‘keeper’s left hand post.

As Yatton sought an equalizer, Nailsea doubled their lead and sealed victory with 50 seconds left on the clock, counter attacking and leaving the Yatton ‘keeper with little chance.

Comments

  1. Bloody third parties , Spencer is Bluffing ! I did the deal at the cricket sixes last year over a cider or two !!!!
  2. And Fred is banned until 2015, but as it wasn't an FA game, anyone can play!
  3. It has been reported that Anthony Marshall is owned by a third party (Mike Spenser). I think Yatton should declare the terms of his contract.
  4. Sorry, forgot to mention the two centre backs, James Bird and Anthony Marshall, who I thought played particularly well.
  5. Form is temporary , class is permanent . Wait for the league game !!!!
  6. I though the referee was a total joke

Tevez: Is his saga being repeated in Somerset?
