Yatton 3 - 0 Clevedon Utd Res
Yatton were dominant in a game against their local rivals which ended a run of nine games without a win. They got off to the perfect start with a goal in the first minute from Scott Bird, a neat interchange of passes with Richards saw him in space inside the box to pass it into the net of the stunned keeper.
On a breezy day Yatton were playing the better football and keeping the ball on the deck, allowing their superior pace and skill to overwhelm Clevedon, who struggled to generate any kind of threat. Yatton were unlucky not to go further ahead when an unbelievable goal-line clearance prevented Alex Bird extending the lead.
Bashford, who had been introduced just before half time spent the second half on the shoulder of Walker, who was winning the airial battle providing Bashford with balls behind the defence to chase. This nearly produced the desired effect but Bashford just cleared the bar with a lob over an advancing keeper from 25 yards.
Yatton were maintaining the pressure and the second goal was inevitable as the half wore on. It came from a free kick by Lee with 15 minutes to go, the points were then secured with a deep cross from Hall that split the Clevedon defence, allowing Walker to finish in style. Clevedon were unable to muster any kind of response and a solid defence and a couple of good saves by Price ensured the clean sheet.
